Housing Toolkit with new and valuable content available to Canadian First Nations

Vancouver, BC, January 2020: The Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council (NmTC) is pleased to announce the release of Housing Toolkit 3.0.

Housing is one of the foremost challenges faced by First Nations across Canada. Clear, fair, consistent and community-specific housing policies and procedures are essential to the effective management and delivery of First Nation housing programs.

In addition to documented updates and revisions to the Housing Policy Toolkit 2.0 (Rent and Rent-To-Own) foundation, Housing Toolkit 3.0 adds significant new policy content including Homeownership Policy Provisions, Sample Template Security Agreements, Housing Committee Terms of Reference Provisions and the Shelter Information Kit as well as the Break-Even Budget Toolkit and the Exploring Housing Authorities Toolkit.

Housing Policy Toolkit 3.0 is designed to provide a comprehensive, integrated and flexible solution for the housing policy development process. Annotated sample template policies and agreements are designed to work together and can be implemented as a complete package or in piecemeal fashion.

Housing Toolkit 3.0 is available at no cost to First Nations nationwide. Since 2015, over 325 First Nations have subscribed to the NmTC Housing Toolkit Project.
