Building a sustainable economic future

This workshop's goal is to provide an understanding and some of the tools required to move your economic development plans forward. The economy seems to be trying to recover, so the timing is excellent for First Nations to move ahead to develop their economic opportunities.

  • Learn how to identify and develop your economic opportunities
  • Gain some strategies for bringing your community up to speed on economic development options
  • Learn how to set up an economic development corporation so that it will succeed
  • Learn how to read financials, proformas and other financial documents
  • Learn how to develop an entrepreneurial spirit in your community

Speakers will deal with how-to methods rather than theoretical discussions. This is a hands-on opportunity to become familiar with the role of Chief and Council, the development corporation and the community in your economic prosperity. It will also cover the ins-and-outs of development, partnerships, community consultation and more.
