What is Being Strong and Being Prepared?

Royal Roads University, Victoria, BC, January 22, 2011

Coast Salish Elders (SW British Columbia and NW Washington State) believed that children were gifts of the Creator and as such Ancestral teachings had to be used on a regular basis to protect and to surround. They understood this process as being associated with “Being Strong and Prepared” and the application of values meant to reinforce belonging, being clean, helping others, listening carefully etc. This workshop identifies traditional Coast Salish values which have driven families and traditions and predate the arrival of the European to our homelands. Click here for more information on this workshop.
