NmTC is working with the Chemainus First Nation on consultation matters on two fronts. NmTC was requested to assist with developing a workplan to consult with their community to inform the membership about the recently drafted custom election code and the proposed changes from elections held under the Indian Act. Work is in the preliminary stages with the intention of completing the community consultation for a ratification vote in 2009.

NmTC has also been working with the Chemainus First Nation in developing community consultation ideas to inform the membership about the land designation process leadership has undertaken to increase economic development and meet community needs such as housing. This collaboration is in its early stages and is being undertaken to highlight the importance of community understanding, support and input into the future of the community.
